The California Children and Families Act of 1998 (Proposition 10) created the California Children and Families Commission. The Commission is responsible for the implementation of comprehensive and integrated solutions to provide information and services promoting, supporting and improving the early childhood development of children prenatal to the age of five. Additionally, The Commission is charged with educating Californians about the dangers of smoking around young children and pregnant women. Each California County has a local Commission that is responsible for implementation of local strategies, and Linda will serve on the San Francisco Commission, also referred to as “First 5 San Francisco Commission”.
